Quick Covid-19 test at Brussels Airport as of 1 September
August 14, 2020
A mobile lab is installed at Brussels Airport where passengers can take a quick Covid-19 test. This way passengers returning from a red zone can get tested upon their arrival at the airport. Passengers leaving on vacation can also get tested in this lab.
“Public health has been a top priority to Brussels Airport since the start of the Covid-19 crisis. That is why we have decided to go one step further and make Covid-19 testing available in a new mobile lab at the airport proper. This way travellers returning from a red zone can get tested immediately upon their arrival at Brussels Airport. Departing passengers can also get tested there. With a quick test the results are available inside 3 hours”, says Arnaud Feist, CEO of Brussels Airport Company."
The mobile lab will be installed just outside the airport terminal (departures level) and passengers can get a PCR test there. The tests are analysed in situ in the mobile lab, which is why the results of a quick test are available after 3 hours instead of 9 hours for a standard test. Passengers arriving from a red zone who have to get tested can do so at the NIHDI rate of €46.81. The standard PCR test is €67 and a quick test will set you back €135.
This test facility will be run by Ecolog in partnership with Van Poucke-Eurofins. Ecolog is active in worldwide logistics and crisis management and Van Poucke-Eurofins specialises in laboratory research. The lab is accredited by Sciensano and will be operational by the start of September.
